Chicago Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard recently became the youngest player in Blackhawks history to reach 100 career assists.
At 20 years and 127 days, he passed Eddie Olczyk, who was the youngest prior to that, at 20 years and 141 days in January of 1987, well before Bedard was born.
His teammates then had a good-natured prank for him, leaving 100 plastic apples at his locker stall in the club's dressing room to represent the 100 assists.
Bedard said he wasn't sure what it symbolized at first, initially thinking it had something to do with Christmas, but that he soon figured it out.
It's good. I had no clue what it was at first, I thought it was some Christmas prank. Then I figured it out. It's cool.
Bedard set the record during a disappointing game, a 9-3 loss by the Blackhawks to the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo.
Connor Bedard Continues To Impress For The Blackhawks In His Third Year In The NHL
Thanks to the hot start of Bedard, who is now on pace to easily establish new career bests in both goals and assists, the Blackhawks are off to their best start since 2020 when they last made the playoffs.
But the Blackhawks have started to struggle in recent games, having now lost three in a row after a six-game point streak.
But the performance of Bedard has not waned, as he now has 31 points (13G, 18A) in 22 games played so far in the third year of his NHL career.
Bedard is the face of the Blackhawks, and he's turning into one of the game's true star players.
