It looks like the Vancouver Canucks are already giving up on former Chicago Blackhawks forward Lukas Reichel, who is now available for another trade.
It wasn't long ago that the Chicago Blackhawks traded Lukas Reichel to the Vancouver Canucks for a 4th round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
But Reichel didn't live up to expectations with the Canucks either, as he has just an assist in the 13 games he's played in a Vancouver sweater since being acquired.
Per reports, the Canucks are already willing to make Reichel available via trade.
According to Canucks insider Patrick Johnston, Reichel's tenure in Vancouver could already be drawing to a close. The 23-year-old forward is officially an option to be moved if GM Patrik Allvin can find a suitor. This comes after Reichel was a healthy scratch against the Dallas Stars, a telling sign for a player brought in to add secondary scoring.
So far this year, split between the Blackhawks and Canucks, Reichel has five points (2G, 3A).
The Lukas Reichel Experiment With The Canucks Did Not Work
Reichel, who was taken by the Blackhawks with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, never took off offensively with the Blackhawks and now with the Canucks.
His best year in the NHL was 2024-25, when he had 22 points (8G, 14A) in 70 games played.
Even though he was expected to perform better with a change of scenery, as so many players have done before, things have not worked out for him with the Canucks, and it may be time for him to find a new situation already.
