Blackhawks forward Connor Bedard has a message for Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon after he was kept scoreless in their game on Sunday in Chicago.
Even though the Chicago Blackhawks lost 1-0 to the Colorado Avalanche on home ice on Saturday night, the Blackhawks still kept superstar Colorado forward Nathan MacKinnon scoreless.
Connor Bedard largely played against MacKinnon, which he would later say was a fun experience.
It was fun. Obviously he's been dominant this year - every year that he's played - so that's such a good challenge. I was very excited to go into the game to get that. I think you can really assess yourself as a group and as individuals when you play a guy like that. It was fun.
During the game, Bedard was on the ice for 16:28 of MacKinnon's 20:36 of total even-strength ice time. Even though Chicago didn't get the result they wanted, keeping one of the NHL's best players scoreless is a positive.
Connor Bedard And The Blackhawks Have Now Lost Three Straight Games
Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, after a six game point streak, their longest since they last made the playoffs in 2020, they have now lost three games in a row.
The Blackhawks are now in sixth place in the Central Division, but there is still plenty of separation between them and the last place Nashville Predators.
Jeff Blashill, in his first year behind the Chicago bench, said he was happy with how they played.
"I think if we repeat that performance, we're winning lots of games. The other team is going to push back, that's just the reality of life, but if you look at where we were to start the game, I thought we did an excellent job in our structure, excellent job of some of the things we talked about this morning that we didn't do in Buffalo"
Chicago can try again to get out of their losing streak when they play the Wild on Wednesday.
