The Edmonton Oilers badly need to make an upgrade in goal, and they could try and acquire goaltender Laurent Brossoit from the Blackhawks per analyst Greg Boyson of Chicago Hockey Now and Mark Lazarus of The Athletic.

The Edmonton Oilers have now lost in the Stanley Cup Final twice in a row to the Florida Panthers, and during each of their runs in the playoffs, they were forced to use both Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard.
While both goaltenders had moments of strength, both would falter when it mattered most, and many feel that Edmonton would have won their 1st Cup since 1990 had GM Stan Bowman upgraded their goaltending position.
Via analyst Greg Boyson of Chicago Hockey Now, the Blackhawks could be a team the Oilers look to make a goaltending deal with.
According to Postmedia's Kurt Leavins, the Edmonton Oilers had interest in goaltender Arturs Silovs. However, the Vancouver Canucks had no interest in moving him within the Pacific Division, so they traded him to the Penguins. This shows that Stan Bowman will continue to look for a goaltender before the start of the season. The Blackhawks might have three healthy NHL netminders in training camp-just something to keep tabs on.

Blackhawks' Laurent Brossoit named as Edmonton Oilers trade target

The goaltender in question is Laurent Brossoit, a one-time Oiler who who missed all of last year with an injury but is still signed for another year with an AAV (average annual value) of $3 million and is now healthy.
The Oilers are approaching a critical juncture in their history, as superstar captain Connor McDavid is approaching free agency next summer.
If GM Stan Bowman isn't able to upgrade their goaltending and instead chooses to stand pat with what they have now, it could be enough of a turnoff to McDavid that he feels he could win a Stanley Cup somewhere else.
