Blackhawks analyst Scott Powers gives his two cents on whether he believes Chicago and general manager Kyle Davidson will be buyers at the trade deadline.
Per a report from Blackhawks analyst Scott Powers, he doesn't get the feeling that Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson is going to want to add, as it could potentially disrupt the chemistry the team has developed amidst their hot start.
"My sense is the Blackhawks wouldn't be interested in buying. General manager Kyle Davidson hasn't drifted much from his larger plan. A rental may disturb what the Blackhawks have going or take important ice time from the young players. It may very well depend on the health of the current NHLers and the potential status of incoming prospects."
But that doesn't mean it won't happen, per Powers.
"If he could acquire someone who could help the team improve down the stretch and allow the young players a chance to play competitive games, even potentially in the playoffs, that might be worth discussing."
The Blackhawks already have 10 wins on the year, the strongest start to a season since they last made the playoffs in 2019-20.
But Powers is right; an acquisition could potentially disrupt the chemistry the current Blackhawks players have made amongst themselves that has helped them to this strong start.
Multiple Blackhawks Players Are Involved In Trade Rumours
Regardless of whether or not the Blackhawks are going to add at the Trade Deadline, there are a few players who have been involved in trade rumors.
Both defenseman Connor Murphy and forward Jason Dickinson are in the final year of their respective contracts.
It will be up to Davidson to decide if he wants to move on from those players if he can get something worthwhile in return.
