The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed David Kampf on waivers in what could be a great opportunity for the Chicago Blackhawks, considering their current injury issues.

The Chicago Blackhawks and the Toronto Maple Leafs are set to meet on the ice for a game this upcoming Saturday, but something else could go down between the two teams before puck drop.
Indeed, the Leafs have placed former Hawk David Kampf on waivers with the purpose of contract termination.
Renowned NHL insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed the news in a post on X:
This could be an intriguing opportunity for a young team like the Blackhawks.

The Blackhawks were down three key players against the New Jersey Devils and nearly lost another when Brenden Dillon boarded Tyler Bertuzzi in a dangerous hit that resulted in a $5,000 fine for the Devils defenseman.
Kampf could bring valuable offensive depth to the Blackhawks while these players recover.
The 30-year-old, six-foot-two forward has not played a game with the Leafs so far this season due to the surplus of bottom-six forwards in Toronto. In four games with the Marlies, the center recorded one assist and a -1 +/-.
He spent four seasons with the Blackhawks between 2017 and 2021. A return to Chicago could be an enticing option for Kampf.
However, his heavy contract could dissuade Kyle Davidson from claiming him, especially considering the Leafs intend to terminate his deal.
After this season, Kampf will have only one year remaining on his $2.4 million AAV contract signed in 2023.
Do you think the Hawks should claim him?
