Blackhawks fowrard Sam Lafferty made the most of his opportunity when he was submitted into the Chicago lineup on Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils.
Even though the Chicago Blackhawks lost 4-3 in OT to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday at United Center, there was a highlight reel goal in the 3rd period that worth watching on repeat.
Blackhawks forward Sam Lafferty, who was recently inserted onto the team's 4th line, scored a highlight reel goal and beat goaltender Jacob Markstrom with a backhand shot, which the near-sellout crowd at United Center loved:
It was his first goal of the year.
The Blackhawks were missing several important players, including Frank Nazar, Andre Burakovsky and Jason Dickinson. Oliver Moore was thrust into the team's first line and Ryan Greene was pushed up to the second.
Jeff Blashill Said The Blackhawks Were Not At Their Best
Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill, who is in his first year behind the Chicago bench, was honest and said they didn't have their best game even though they earned point.
We didn't have our best, that's for sure. It looked like we had a number of guys without great legs. ... Then you're kind of slow to pucks, you're kind of slow with the puck and you're not as sharp when you do have it. We just weren't as assertive with the puck as we needed to be.
The other side of it is, we had leads that we definitely squandered. So there are areas we have to clean up.

The Balckawhsk are still off to a very encouraging start this year, and have their fans thinking about a potential return to the postseason for what would be the first time since 2020.
