The Chicago Blackhawks announced that they won't have captain Nick Foligno for the next four weeks after he was hurt blocking a shot in last night's 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Chicago Blackhawks picked up their ninth win of the year, 3-2 over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs last night at the United Center, but it came at a critical loss.
The Blackhawks lost captain Nick Foligno to injury after he accidentally blocked a shot from teammate Jake McCabe late in the second period. He immediately went back to the bench in obvious pain and didn't return for the rest of the night.
After the game, head coach Jeff Blashill made the unfortunate announcement that Foligno isn't going to be available any time soon.
"Nick is going to be out for an extended period of time. Probably if I was to estimate, it'd be four weeks, but it might be a little bit less, a little bit more. I don't love putting timelines on it. It's not six months, but it's not two days."

So far this year, Foligno has six assists in 15 games played.

Nick Foligno Already Missed Time This Year, But Not Because Of Injury

This is going to be the second absence of the year for Foligno, who missed several games earlier in the season, but not because of injury.
Foligno's daughter recently underwent heart surgery, and he took an understandable leave of absence to help tend to her care during her recovery. Thankfully, the surgery went well, and she is recovering at home.
Foligno gave the following update on her health after his return to the team in late October.
"I'm happy to report that Milana's home now and doing well. She's probably the one that gives us the most strength with the way she's handled this adversity. It's impressive for a 12-year-old girl to handle it face-on."

Foligno is in his third year with the Blackhawks and second as captain.
