A trade between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Chicago Blackhawks has officially been completed after the Maple Leafs lost 6-1 to the Florida Panthers in Game 7.

It's now down to 4 clubs left standing and competing for the Stanley Cup - the Carolina Hurricanes, the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars, and the defending champion Florida Panthers.
The Panthers advanced to the third round after demolishing the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7, 6-1 at Scotiabank Arena to send the Leafs to another crushing loss.
But it will benefit the Blackhawks in a small way. Dating back to a 2023 trade between the Blackhawks and the Maple Leafs that involved Jake McCabe, the 1st round pick that is now owned by the Blackhawks will be 25th overall.
Per Blackhawks analyst Ben Pope, the pick is now confirmed thanks to Toronto's Game 7 meltdown loss:
The Maple Leafs' first-round pick, which the Blackhawks own, is going to end up being 25th overall. If they won tonight, it would've been in the 29th-32nd range.
The original trade saw the Blackhawks move McCabe to the Maple Leafs, along with forward Sam Lafferty, and a pair future conditional picks in exchange for Toronto's conditional 1st round pick in 2025, Toronto's 2nd round pick in 2026, and forwards Joey Anderson and Pavel Gogolev.
He had 23 points (2G, 21A) in 66 games, along with 4 assists in 12 postseason games.
