Trade underway involving Blackhawks' former 17th overall pick: Insider provides substantial update

Per analyst Scott Powers of The Athletic, the Chicago Blackhawks continue to shop forward Lukas Reichel, who only has a year left on his current contract.
As the Chicago Blackhawks continue to work toward trying to trim down their roster before the regular season begins, one player in particular may not be with the team by the time October 7 comes around.
Forward Lukas Reichel, who has been included in multiple trade rumours, could soon be on the move per recent reports.
Per analyst Scott Powers of The Athletic, Reichel has been made available for trade by the Blackhawks and could either be traded or even placed on waivers.
It's no secret the Blackhawks explored trading [Lukas] Reichel and, even in the last few days, let teams know he's available. What happens over the next week is anyone's guess. He could be traded. He could make the Blackhawks roster out of camp. He could be placed on waivers, and that could mean either being claimed by someone else or reassigned to the AHL.

Last year, Reichel had 22 points (8G, 14A) in 70 games. In 169 career games, all in a Blackhawks sweater, Reichel has 54 points (20G, 34A).
Lukas Reichel was taken by the Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft
Reichel has spent his entire NHL career with the Blackhawks after they took him with the 17th overall selection in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. At the time, he was playing for Eisbaren Berlin in the DEL.
In his 1st full year in the NHL in 2023-24, he had 16 points (5G, 11A) in 65 games.
He has a year left on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $1.2 million.
