Bleacher Report released its Vezina Trophy rankings, and Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight's $17.5 million contract looks well worth it.

While we're only one month into the 2025-26 NHL season, it's never a bad idea to gauge who could be candidates for the Vezina Trophy.
The Vezina Trophy is a distinguished award handed to the best goalie in the NHL and voted on by all 32 GMs.
Igor Shesterkin (New York Rangers), Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets), and Andrei Vasilevskiy (Tampa Bay Lightning) have won it in the past.
Now, we take a look at the 2025-26 season.
Spencer Knight was signed to an extension by the Blackhawks this postseason, and he pays $17.5 million over the length of the deal.
Bleacher Report's ranking of the Chicago Blackhawks' starting goaltender is very generous and realistic.

The Chicago Blackhawks Spencer Knight is A #3 favorite for the Vezina Trophy

Knight was acquired from the Florida Panthers last year in a trade for Seth Jones. He hadn't established himself as the team's true starter until the beginning of the year, but showed glimpses of the brilliance we've seen this year.
After being overshadowed in Florida by Sergei Bobrovsky, he has come into his own in Chicago.
Knight is making the most of this chance. The 24-year-old has a record of six wins, three losses, and two overtime losses in 11 starts. He's second among starting goalies with a .923 save percentage, while his 2.46 goals-against average is among the top 10.

Knight is the reason the Blackhawks have kept themselves in games they shouldn't have won, and he keeps the team competitive during his starts.
