Eddie Olczyk returns to the Blackhawks organization on Wednesday against the Devils

For once, the Chicago Blackhawks will benefit from the NHL's generosity. As a former Blackhawks play-by-play announcer, Eddie Olczyk will return to call the action that night against the New Jersey Devils.

The reason? Due to the CHSN controversy that has plagued the Blackhawks and it's faithful fans all season, the NHL has lifted the blackout in the regional area, and fans will have access to the NHL on TNT broadcast.

While Eddie currently isn't in the booth for the Blackhawks, a duty that belongs to Rick Ball, who appears on the CHSN, he will be live for the TNT broadcast.

A welcome change of pace for fans who had no means to connect to CHSN at all, or who have been fed up with the whole debacle, have forgotten about the entire thing.

Now, you can view the game on National TV without the blackout, and reminisce about how great it was when Olczyk was still calling plays here.

Olczyk joined the Seattle Kraken broadcasting team in August 2022 and has remained there since, joining his son Nick in the organization.

Up until then he had been a part of the Blackhawks announcing crew for 15 years, and would depart due to a dispute with his contract.

Now, he has served as lead analyst for TNT after holding the job with NBC Sports from 2007-2021.

The Blackhawks fans may not find comfort in the team's record, but a lift of the league's blackout is a small victory we can take solace in.
