In a new interview, Connor Bedard discussed his contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Connor Bedard's entry-level contract will expire at the end of the season, making his negotiations one of the most interesting issues to follow in the coming months in Chicago.
So far this season, the 2023 first overall pick has had the best start of his career, with 26 points, including 10 goals, in only 18 games.
Here's what he had to say about his success in a recent press conference:
"If you're playing well, if points are coming, you're going to feel good. I think for me, it's just not getting too high, not getting too low. When the points aren't coming or I feel like I'm not playing my best, just stick with it and, after every game, reset and try to play my best every night."

The player is in a position to ask for a massive salary as the face of the Blackhawks' rebuild.

Bedard Opens Up On Contract Negotiations In New Interview

In an interview with Colby Armstrong, Bedard opened up on both his and Frank Nazar's extensions.
Armstrong tried to get some details out of him, but Bedard didn't say much, prompting the host to jokingly throw around some numbers.
He even told Chicago to "Wake up."

Although his contract situation likely drove him to perform the way he does this year, the Olympics are also a great source of motivation, even if he focuses on building his game:
«It's a ways away, and I'll focus on what we're doing here; the better I am day to day, that gives me a better chance. What happens, happens. I just want to keep playing well and keep building on my game."
