A significant statement has unveiled that the Chicago Blackhawks organization may be at high risk of losing their former 1st-round pick, Connor Bedard.

The Chicago Blackhawks are doing everything in their power to pursue their ongoing rebuild, and as the team is in the midst of it, a close team source has revealed that he believes the organization isn't going about it the right way.

Team reporter, Mark Lazerus, states that he believes the Chicago Blackhawks are not going about their rebuild the right way

Mark Lazerus revealed that he thinks the Blackhawks organization is not making the wisest moves when it comes to their rebuild and that they might be better off spending their money before it's too late.
The Hawks have been stockpiling future assets, such as prospects and draft picks, for much too long to still be out of playoff contention for the 2025/26 NHL season; however, sadly enough, it seems as though that will be the case.
No big-name players or veterans have been signed to offer support to the organization's former 1st-round pick, Connor Bedard, who is already going on his third year of his NHL career.
And Lazerus believes this is the Blackhawks' biggest downfall.
He stated:
"I'd argue that no team in the salary-cap era has won the Stanley Cup by actively tanking. The closest one would be the 2010 Blackhawks, but organizational incompetence isn't quite the same thing as intentionally losing. Sure, you need a couple of big names at the top of the lineup, and the draft is an excellent way to get there. But no team successfully builds exclusively through the draft. Not those Blackhawks. Not these Florida Panthers. Not anyone. At some point, you have to start trying.»

The Blackhawks' recent drafts have certainly benefitted the organization, as they have acquired big-named prospects, such as Frank Nazar, Connor Bedard, and Artyom Levshunov.
However, the organization simply cannot be big enough competitors to contend with just these players.
Lazerus continued:
"The Blackhawks have tanked harder than any team has tanked since maybe the 1983-84 Pittsburgh Penguins. And with Chicago GM Kyle Davidson making an absurd 11 first-round picks in the last four drafts, and possibly Gavin McKenna waiting next summer, maybe I'll look foolish in the long run,» Lazerus admitted. «Wouldn't be the first time. But given how disastrous other full guts have gone (hello, Buffalo and Detroit!), all I can hear in my head is Tobias Fünke saying, 'But it might work for us."

This Original Six franchise has been stuck in the NHL basement for three-years straight, and fans are getting tired of it.
This being said, Lazerus' honest thoughts on the Chicago Blackhawks' poor rebuild echos the organization's entire fan base at the moment.
