We need to all thank Dale Tallon for helping to build a dynasty which featured one of the Blackhawks' greatest free agent signings of all-time, Marian Hossa, a three-time Stanley Cup champion.

Marian Hossa started his NHL career with the Ottawa Senators in 1998-99, but wouldn't taste true success until later down the road. He'd jump from the Senators to the Atlanta Thrashers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and the Detroit Red Wings.
It wasn't until 2009 that things would change for the Hawks and Hossa, as Dale Tallon would ink Hossa to a $62.8 million deal on July 1st, 2009.
The signing would be pivotal, as at the end of the 2009-10 season, the Blackhawks would secure their first Stanley Cup, kickstarting the dynasty we know and love. Hossa would miss Stanley Cups with the Penguins and the Red Wings before he hopped on board the Blackhawks organization.

From Pretenders to Contenders: A Long-term Commitment for Hossa

Hossa would take short-term deals in the hopes they would deliver Stanley Cups with both the Red Wings and Penguins on off-years. As opposed to what wasn't working, Hossa would take the leap with Tallon and begin his legendary career as a Blackhawk.
We can see the fruits of his labor in the rafters, with #81 hanging up there for good reason. In 534 games with the Blackhawks, he'd score 415 points (186-229) and would win hardware three times.
His storied career would feature stops along the way in multiple organizations (Thrashers, Penguins, Red Wings, and Senators), scoring a total of 525 goals.
Hossa is a Hall of Famer and a legend in Blackhawks fans' eyes for good reason.
His contributions remain as legendary lore in the Blackhawks' story, scoring a Game 5 overtime goal in 2010 against the Nashville Predators to put the team up 3-2 in the series.
That goal would be what broke the camels back and put the team on course for a dynastic reign in the NHL.
Tallon really made one of the best franchise signings ever when he brought Hossa to Chicago.
