You can't make everybody happy, and for Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks, that's the case for Adam Gretz of the Bleacher Report, who obliterated them for this terrible postseason.

The Chicago Blackhawks weren't as active as some people would've liked this postseason.
While the team was busy during the 2025 NHL Draft selecting Anton Frondell as their 3rd overall selection, the team remained quiet during free agency.
Add random signings in Dominic Toninato, Stanislav Berezhnoy, Louis Crevier, and trading for center Sam Lafferty.
All in all, a snooze fest.
For that effort, Adam Gretz of the Bleacher Report gave GM Kyle Davidson a "D" for his "efforts".
«The Blackhawks were again one of the NHL's worst teams during the 2024-25 season and have not taken any meaningful steps to change that,» he said.

These efforts have kept the Blackhawks on the positive side of the salary cap, while not overspending on top-six talent, like Brock Boeser or Nikolaj Ehlers, as we thought they might.
Instead, they'll rely on Andre Burakovsky and Sam Lafferty to add to the mix of young prospects, while he believes they'll be thrown to the wolves in 2025-26.
Which is a debatable narrative, considering how much talent the team missed out on.
Gretz believes that this could be another year of tanking, as last season the team did worse than Connor Bedard's first year, with a 25-46-11 finish.
Good enough for a lottery pick in the 1st-round which led to a power forward like Frondell being added to the prospect pool.
«Prospects offer intrigue, but they are still lottery tickets. The reality is this team stinks and did nothing to remove that scent,» Gretz brutally concluded

With Jeff Blashill in charge, the team hopes to course-correct after a brutal season of disappointment with Luke Richardson and Anders Sorensen leading to a lottery finish.
Gretz might not be wrong about the lack of meaningful additions in the summer, but for now, the Blackhawks are on the path for growth, with the hope that the draft-and-develop method of building a team could put them back into contention.
The veteran talent surrounding them? Not so great, as we've seen one force his way out to Florida, Nick Foligno remains to stay the course.
