Oilers general manager Stan Bowman took to TSN's OverDrive podcast recently, and shared his thoughts on the NHL's upcoming salary cap increases, which will be reaching new all-time highs in the next three seasons.
Bowman's response? He believes player agents will take advantage of it.

The Oilers general manager made a point that teams will have to adjust very quickly with the cap rising, in regards to signing new contracts, buyouts and retained salary-trades will reportedly have a different look moving forward, according to Bowman.

Although Bedard is in need of an expensive deal, the Blackhawks and their expiring contracts heading out the door this off-season, they are projected to have $30 million in cap space, meaning a lot more salary is available to drop on Bedard's future star linemate.
