Official announcement from the Chicago Blackhawks and a 4 player transaction has been completed

It's that time of the year again.

As we get closer to the end of the preseason and the start of the regular calendar, teams are once again gearing up for the season by making the final modifications to their rosters, crushing many prospects' hopes at the same time.

Last night, the team was in action against the St. Louis Blues and won 4-2. Despite the result, the organization decided to trim their roster ahead of tonight's game against the Minnesota Wild.

Indeed, four players are leaving the Blackhawks camp and will report to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.

On Sunday morning, the Blackhawks announced that they've trimmed their roster to 38 players after cutting four players from their training camp.

In an official press release, the team revealed that Jackson Cates, Gavin Hayes, Martin Misiak, and Stanislav Berezhnoy were all sent to the AHL.

Cates, Hayes, and Misiak, three forwards, all took part in last night's preseason game against the Blues.

Hayes notably scored the game-tying goal halfway through the third period, capitalizing on a great play from Dominic Toninato.

Here's how it went down:

The fourth player, goalie Stanislav Berezhnoy, didn't get a chance to play for the Hawks in the preseason, but did show what he was capable of in the prospect showdown earlier this month.

Berezhnoy, like the other three players, should have an important role with the IceHogs next season.

It'll be interesting to see if one of them eventually gets a chance to play for the Blackhawks at some point this season.
