After the Blackhawks signed goaltender Stanislav Berezhnoy, it could mean that Laurent Brossoit, who has yet to play a game for Chicago, could be traded soon.

Earlier this month, the Chicago Blackhawks signed prospect goaltender Stanislav Berezhnoy, and it means that they could soon be considering a trade of Laurent Brossoit.
It was a 'huge' signing, to say the least; the Russian-born netminder stands at a whopping 6-foot-4 and weight 218 pounds, he is only 22 years old.
Brossoit, who was signed last summer, has yet to play a single game with the Blackhawks as he underwent meniscus surgery in August and then once again in November.
He still has another year on his contract with Chicago with an AAV (average annual value) of $3.3 million.
The Blackhawks added Berezhnoy to their goaltending room, meaning they now have 5 goalies under contract, including Arvid Soderblom, Spencer Knight, Drew Commesso, and Brossoit.
Berezhnoy was signed to a 2 year entry level contract with an AAV of $975,000.
Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson spoke earlier in the month about the team's goaltending situation, saying that they'll have to wait and see about Brossoit's condition.
Obviously Spencer coming in and continuing to understand our system, and under a new coaching staff, some new defensive systems that he'll be playing within. So I think that'll be great for him to continue to get comfortable here. Arvid, I think he can build on his season last year. And then I think Drew is trending in a really good direction. And then we'll see how LB is. And then what else we do in Rockford over the next little while.

Stanislav Berezhnoy was never drafted into the NHL

Berezhnoy was never drafted into the NHL, but he comes with some striking potential.
Last year, Berezhnoy played for both Omskie Krylia and SKA-Neva St. Petersburg in Russia's Supreme Hockey League.
Overall, he went 12-10-2 with a 2.50 GAA, a .928 SV%, and a single shutout.
