Former Chicago Blackhawk Corey Perry began the week by throwing out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium, and now the newly minted Los Angeles King has been hospitalized after an incident in El Segundo today.

Corey Perry was a former Chicago Blackhawk who'd play only 16 games here.
His contract would be terminated after an incident in Columbus. He'd later reappear in the NHL after going through therapy and sign with the Oilers, where he spent the last two seasons, losing two Stanley Cup finals.
With Ken Holland taking over the Los Angeles Kings from Rob Blake, he's shaping them in his image, bringing veteran forward Corey Perry. As a former Stanley Cup champion, he has plenty of grit and experience to add.
Is it positive, though?
He hasn't even officially suited up for the Kings this season. But he's already suffered an injury in the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, California. He had to be carted off the ice in a wheelchair.

Corey Perry's Out 6-8 Weeks

General Manager Ken Holland signed the former Stanley Cup champion in July, as he brings the kind of grit the Kings lack. They haven't had many players who could fulfill that role in a while, aside from Brendan Lemieux and Kyle Clifford in recent years.
Now, the 40-year-old forward will have to contemplate his future as he'll be recovering from knee surgery.
Perry has played a total of 1,392 NHL games and scored 448-487-935 points, and 1487 penalty minutes.
The "worm" may help the Kings fend off the Oilers, as they might as well become the Oilers 2.0 if Ken Holland truly has his way with the lineup.
The only player they're missing now is Evander Kane.
