The former Chicago Blackhawks player Corey Perry could be forced to give up $250,000 due to his injury.

Corey Perry signed a contract with the Los Angeles Kings in free agency in the offseason after two tough Stanley Cup Final losses with the Edmonton Oilers.
His contract includes performance bonuses tied to the number of games he plays, but according to a new development, he could be forced to give up a significant amount.
Check out how his deal is structured:
$500K at 10 games played
$250K at 20 games
$250K at 30 games
$250K at 40 games
$250K at 50 games
$125K if LA wins Round 1
$250K if LA wins Round 2
$125K if LA wins Round 3

Perry Could Fail To Hit Performance Bonus Due To Injury

Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Kings announced that Perry will miss around 6-8 weeks as he recovers from knee surgery.
That puts his return date somewhere around late November, but as with all injuries, the timeline could change depending on how Perry recovers.
The November 28 game against the Anaheim Ducks emerged as a potential return date, but Perry would already have missed 23 games.
The concern grows if his rehab takes even longer. A two-week delay pushes his return to mid-December, meaning he'd enter at the 31st game of the season.
For now, both the Kings and Perry can't do much. Surgery reportedly went well, and the veteran will go through the standard recovery steps before joining full practices again.
In the bigger picture, Perry's injury also impacts the Kings' salary cap management. If he fails to earn his bonuses, LA could gain some long-term flexibility.
For now, though, the focus remains on Perry's health and whether he can return in time to cash in on his contract incentives and help the team win.
