Chicago Blackhawks officially sign accomplished former Boston Bruins defenseman coming off career-high season

The Chicago Blackhawks have officially announced a professional tryout contract offer to a very intriguing defenseman, and despite being age 31, he's coming off of a career-high season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
One of the most intriguing free agents still available has signed a professional tryout with the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
Despite several improvements on the offensive side of things for the Chicago Blackhawks this offseason, which includes the acquisition of Andre Burakovsky via trade with the Seattle Kraken, they've nearly ignored improving their backend.
With plenty of youth on the defensive end including star-studded prospect Sam Rinzel, Artyom Levshunov, and other names such as Wyatt Kaiser, Ethan Del Mastro, and Alex Vlasic, an anchor is needed to provide some veteran leadership.
Up until now, that is.
Chicago Blackhawks sign Matt Grzelcyk to a PTO
The Blackhawks have signed former Boston Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk to a PTO, who's also coming off of a career-high 40-point season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

A low-risk, high-reward move for the Chicago Blackhawks, and quite the smart one by Kyle Davidson.
Grzelcyk's professional tryout will run through the Chicago Blackhawks' training camp (Sept. 19 start) and preseason games, which kick off on Sept. 23.
