Chicago Blackhawks coaching search narrowed down to 5 names

The Chicago Blackhawks had a top candidate in mind to take over the head coaching duties on a permanent basis behind their bench, but they were rejected.

Per multiple reports, the Blackhawks badly wanted University of Denver head coach David Carle to come to the Windy City, but he withdrew his name from consideration for the job.

Additionally, the Blackhawks will not be able to hire Mike Sullivan; he's been hired by the New York Rangers less than a week after parting ways with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The news isn't all bad for Chicago, though. There are still multiple candidates available in addition to current interim head coach Anders Sorenson.

Per BlackhawkUp, there are 5 specific candidates that Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson should be considering.

They began by listing former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft:

Additionally, they listed Dan Bylsma, who was just let go after a single year on the job by the Seattle Kraken. Now-former Vancouver Canucks coach Rick Tocchet and interim Philadelphia Flyers coach Brad Shaw were also listed as possibilities for Davidson to consider.

Finally, they listed Boston University coach (and former NHL forward) Jay Pandolfo as the final name for Davidson to consider.
