The impact of Connor Bedard on the Western Hockey League (WHL) has been undeniable, with sold-out arenas becoming the norm. But the influence of the young prodigy extended even further, inspiring a young boy from Indiana to pursue his own hockey dreams.

After witnessing a 7-0 defeat of the Regina Pats by the Winnipeg Ice, six-year-old Fletcher Boynton discovered his passion for the sport. Prompted by Bedard's remarkable skills, Fletcher obtained his first pair of skates, stick, and puck.
«I had a lot of fun even though I was frustrated with how they played – because they literally didn't score a single goal," he said.

"We had to go back to Indiana and go skating,» Gerry explained. «He spent the whole summer learning how to skate."

Although he would fall, many times, Fletcher kept getting back up.

Honing his skills to be just like Connor.

"It's just amazing how he can be really nice and also be really good,» Fletcher said. «He's just a really good hockey player."

Despite initial doubts, Fletcher persevered, honing his abilities to emulate his idol. The Bedard effect transcended borders, nurturing the growth of hockey in the next generation.
