It was only a matter of time before Blackhawks fans and NHL enthusiasts learned about the pending signing of the newly chosen Blackhawk, Connor Bedard.

Today, the signing was officially announced, revealing that Bedard has been inked to a three-year, $950,000 per season contract. While this amount represents the league maximum for a rookie, there are additional details to consider within his contract.
The breakdown is as follows: according to Capfriendly.com, Bedard will receive a base salary of $855,000, accompanied by a signing bonus of $95,000. If Bedard manages to achieve all of his performance bonuses, he stands to earn an additional $3.5 million. This would bring his total earnings to $4.45 million per season.
This is an incredible start for the young man, and the fact that he signed this contract on his birthday makes it even more special.
It will be vital for General Manager Kyle Davidson to keep all of this in mind, as the overage he will take on with Bedard's highly likely achievement of all his bonuses will be carried over into the next season, impacting the salary cap.
Additionally, there's the factor of the salary cap potentially raising over $4 million next season, which could help alleviate any overage that Bedard incurs.
It's safe to say that this is probably the best summer in Bedard's life, and he's just getting started. This young man is about to make a significant amount of money in a very short period.
