Imminent trade for the Chicago Blackhawks: A 23-year-old forward is packing his bags

As the main goal of the summer for the Chicago Blackhawks has been contract negotiation talks with Connor Bedard in hopes to secure his longevity with the organization, it appears that a trade of his teammate will come beforehand.

A 23-year-old former first-round pick is on his way out of Chicago.

This will not be the first deal of the season from general manager Kyle Davidson as he's already completed a trade with the Seattle Kraken, which saw a Stanley Cup Champion, Andre Burakovsky, head to Chicago.

According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Blackhawks are prepared to part ways with forward Lukas Reichel, their 2020 first-round 17th overall pick.

According to The Hockey News, the Edmonton Oilers are a suitor for Reichel after they lost forward Corey Perry and Viktor Arvidsson this summer.

Oilers general manager Stan Bowman drafted Reichel in his final summer of being the Blackhawks' general manager in 2020 before being fired, so clearly he thinks of the young forward very highly.

Reichel seems like the kind of player who could possibly catch a groove and find his game with a fresh franchise, which may sting the Blackhawks. But at this point, after countless opportunities high in the lineup, it's needed.
