Connor Bedard wowed the entire NHL last night, but sadly for him, the lights belonged to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Bedard ripped a third-period wrist shot from the high slot, beating veteran netminder Carter Hart to give the Chicago Blackhawks a brief lead and notch his team-leading 17th goal of the season.
Yet even that highlight couldn't change the final result. Vegas rallied late, forced overtime with minutes left in the third period, and then edged Chicago 4-3 in a shootout.
Bedard even showed some toughness we haven't witnessed much of yet after taking a dangerous hit from ex-Blackhawks fan favorite forward Brandon Saad.
Chicago looked dangerous early. Bedard's goal stood out, but the supporting cast didn't follow. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights got balanced production, Ivan Barbashev and Braeden Bowman each registered a goal and an assist, while Shea Theodore provided two assists and buried the shootout clincher.

Golden Knights rally past Bedard's spark

Fans will say there's something unnerving about seeing a player as electrifying as Bedard score a beauty and still walk away with a loss. The truth is, talent alone doesn't win games; the Blackhawks must give the 20-year-old former first overall some support.
Hart stopped 27 shots in his first NHL action in nearly two years and regained the form that once made him a top draw but couldn't stop this dazzling move on Bedard in the shootout.
Chicago now falls to six losses in seven games. Without more consistent support, those highlight reels may just feel like taunts.
Still, Bedard's finish was a reminder: the kid is the real deal.
If the rest of the Blackhawks tighten up, that kind of skill could bring them into playoff contention. For now, though, the show belongs to Vegas.
