The Chicago Blackhawks organization has placed a forward on injured reserve and called up his replacement from the Rockford IceHogs ahead of tomorrow's season opener against the Florida Panthers.

Hockey is finally back, and the Blackhawks are officially starting their season tomorrow evening in Florida.
Ahead of that game, the team decided to bring reinforcements from the AHL, as a player projected to be in the starting lineup has been placed on injured reserve.

Blackhawks Place Landon Slaggert On IR And Call Up Ryan Greene From Rockford IceHogs

Landon Slaggert is dealing with a lower-body injury that forced the organization to call up Ryan Greene from the AHL. Joey Anderson was also placed on IR.
The team shared an official press release to confirm the news:
"The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has recalled forward Ryan Greene from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Additionally, the team has placed forward Landon Slaggert (lower body) on injured reserve and forward Joey Anderson (lower body) on injured non-roster."
No details on Slaggert's injury emerged, except that it's a lower-body issue.
However, a video was posted online in which we can see the final shift he had last Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres:
As for Greene, the 21-year-old, six-foot-one center has taken part in two NHL games in his career so far. Last season, he tallied 38 points, including 13 goals, in 40 games with Boston University in the NCAA.
Hawks reporter Charlie Roumeliotis shared a picture of Greene at the Hawks' practice, where he skated on the fourth line with team captain Nick Foligno and Sam Lafferty.
Colton Dach replaced Slaggert on the third line with Jason Dickinson and Ilya Mikheyev, while Lukas Reichel was the extra forward, set to be healthy scratched for the start of the season, if he hasn't been traded beforehand.
