Bruce Boudreau turns heads with surprising prediction the Chicago Blackhawks' 2025-26 season

The Chicago Blackhawks have been in the NHL's basement for the last several years, and even though they've gotten several top-3 picks out of it, fans are hoping for the team to turn things around soon.

The same can be said about the San Jose Sharks, who also got the top overall pick recently.

But one team expected to perform poorly this year is the Pittsburgh Penguins, who haven't made the playoffs for the last 3 years, the longest drought of longtime franchise mainstays Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.

Per former NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau, the Penguins will finish with a worse overall record than both the Blackhawks and Sharks.

Boudreau also thinks the Penguins will be in the running to get the top overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

The Penguins have been rumored for months now to try and trade players like Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell along with Erik Karlsson.

The Blackhawks would love to add more scoring up front, and one of Rust or Rakell could fit the bill.

If the Penguins once again get off to a bad start to the year, their trade doors could be open, and the Blackhawks should consider making a deal with them.
