The Chicago Blackhawks offered updates Monday on Teuvo Teravainen and Nick Foligno, two forwards shaping lineup stability and short-term expectations.

Teuvo Teravainen took a maintenance day at practice, a familiar routine for veterans managing long schedules, and the club expects him to play Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Teravainen, 31, remains a key puck mover on the wing, trusted in transition and on the half wall, especially when Chicago struggles to exit cleanly under pressure.
Nick Foligno has been sidelined since Nov 15 with an injury and practiced fully again on Monday, and the Blackhawks will decide on his availability after morning skate on Tuesday.

Teuvo Teravainen and Nick Foligno nearing returns

From a fan perspective, this felt like a needed exhale, because the Blackhawks have missed Foligno's edge and solid play in the lineup.
Teravainen, originally drafted 18th overall in 2012 by Chicago, helps the offense breathe by slowing the game, holding pucks along the wall, and creating controlled entries when speed alone fails.
Even when not scoring, his value shows in spacing and support, allowing younger linemates to find safer routes through the neutral zone and avoid rushed dump-ins.
Foligno's possible return carries a different weight, less about points and more about structure, bench energy, and setting forecheck routes that actually finish with contact.
At 38, Foligno was drafted 28th overall in 2006 by Ottawa, and his game now centers on net-front work, defensive reads, and protecting younger players during scrums.
Chicago has been cautious with him, which suggests the staff wants full confidence in his legs before reintroducing heavy minutes or penalty-killing responsibility.
If both forwards dress Tuesday, the Blackhawks gain balance, fewer forced minutes for depth players, and a clearer picture of what this group can look like when healthy again.
