The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off an impressive 5-1 over the Los Angeles Kings, and they have another formidable challenge ahead of them tonight as the team takes on the Ottawa Senators.
The Chicago Blackhawks have just announced their starting goaltender, and Arvid Soderblom has surprisingly gotten the nod.
Let's face it, the Chicago Blackhawks situation between the pipes this year has been tough to watch.
The Chicago Blackhawks faithful had high hopes when they acquired Laurent Brossoit during the offseason, but an injury riddled season has kept him out of the lineup.
While goaltender Petr Mrazek and Arvid Söderblom have done a respectable job carrying the load, they both lack the decisive edge it takes to steal games close games.
Well, in came Spencer Knight.
Following an impressive performance against the Kings, the Blackhawks are controversially starting Soderblom.
Spencer Knight shined during his Chicago Blackhawks debut
The 23-year-old Connecticut native stopped 41-of-42 shots for a .976 save percentage in the win during his debut. It's safe to say the Blackhawks may have found their goaltender of the future.
«I'm glad I got to get the win with the guys. It was a team effort, team win,'' Spencer Knight said afterward.

Tonight's matchup will be a test to Soderblom, to see if he can handle the pressure with a new goaltender looking over his shoulder.
Will he rise to the occasion? Time will tell.
