The hockey community mourns the loss of a 21-year old star following tragic incident

21-year-old hockey player, and beloved Vernal Oilers player O'Shea Red Crow, died tragically in Calgary on Sunday.
At 21 years old, this is tragic news.
He was given a memorialization on his junior hockey team's Facebook page afterward, as the Vernal Oilers of the USPHL honored his passing.
Red Crow played for the team during the 2022-23 USPHL season and scored 21 points in 22 games with the team. He was known as a fearless competitor and would utilize it to wear down his enemies on the ice.

But when it came to the Oilers locker room, he was known as a gentle giant with his friends and teammates.
«The definition of a 'gentle giant,' O'Shea was beloved by not only his Oiler teammates and coaches, but also the entire Vernal community,» the post read.
«Our condolences go out to the Red Crow family, his teammates and fans in Vernal, and the entire Siksika Nation.»
Red Crow's time with the team would end early due to an injury, but he'd left his calling card with the Oilers.
His family would be interviewed after the tragic incident, which occurred just after 5 a.m. on Sunday, where he sustained life-threatening injuries.
Another team of his would set up a memorial for him at the Strathmore Family Center and would lament his passing.
«He was a quiet presence in the room, soft-spoken, humble, and always respectful. While he may not have been the loudest voice on the team, he was part of our brotherhood, and his loss is deeply felt by those who shared the ice with him,» the Kings wrote of Red Crow's time with them.
