Saddened passing strikes the hockey world
Sadly, a Canadian actor who played Ralph Cox in the movie "Miracle" has passed away at 49.
A Toronto native, Kenneth Mitchell played Ralph Cox, an important member of the USA Olympic team that defeated the Soviet team in 1980, which was thought to be unbeatable.
As a result of taking part in the Soviet team's demolition, Cox later was drafted by the original 6 team, the Boston Bruins. Despite being drafted by the team, he spent most of his hockey career in Europe.

As a result of a persistent ankle injury, Cox was previously cut from the team.
The player himself solidified his name in NHL history, helping the Pittsburgh Penguins win two Stanley Cup rings as a scout in 1991-1992, and having his name engraved on the Cup in 1992.
At 49 years of age, Kenneth Mitchell, a 49-year-old man who lived with ALS for the last 5 years, died on Saturday.
After his ALS diagnosis in 2019, Mitchell continued to act. Over the course of his career, he made appearances on Star Trek: Discovery, NCIS, and CSI, among others.
