The San Jose Sharks, like the once "Oakland" A's have been a fixture in the Bay Area for some time now. But like the A's and many teams from the Bay Area, they could be relocating.

The team joined the NHL in 1991, they wouldn't move into the SAP Center until 1993 and have played their home games there since.

But there appears to be movement on the horizon, as the team could be relocating elsewhere.
They could leave the SAP Center but not too far from San Jose:
Even if the #Sharks 🇺🇸 have to move out of San Jose due to the new SAP Center agreement, they will remain in the Bay Area.

On July 1st, 2025, the San Jose Sharks' arena management agreement with the city of San Jose changes, «unfavorably» for the Sharks, according to the Sharks' president Jonathan Becher.

The top options would likely be San Francisco or Oakland, but the team will push hard to remain in San Jose.
The report from NHL Insider Sheng Peng reports that the team and the SAP Center's agreement isn't working out, as it isn't in fact, team-friendly. The deal they signed, it prohibits them from moving far, so they would only be able to look at San Francisco and Oakland for alternatives.
With the connection the Sharks have made to the local area in San Jose, would be bittersweet for fans. But if the team is looking for a better deal, will they follow suit and move like the Golden State Warriors to San Francisco?
