Consistency of the NHL's officiating in round 1 of the Montreal Canadiens vs. Washington Capitals series has been questioned once again following another uncalled incident against the Habs.
Just two games into Alex Ovechkin's Capitals facing off against the Canadiens, Habs fans have found something else to complain about and are already complaining over officiating.
Recent complaints involving officiating is highlighting the obvious fact that Habs fans have not experienced much playoff hockey.
In Game 1 the Canadiens took a 3-2 loss in overtime following an icing call that is still being analyzed under a microscope from Canadiens fans, days later.
Habs fans pledge refs are against them in series vs Capitals
Fast forward to Game 2 on Wednesday and Canadiens fans are pledging for officials to be fired once again after they believed Patrick Laine was hit knee-on-knee.
I'm convinced the league genuinely doesn't want Montréal to win another cup. There is no other reason for the one-sided officiating we constantly face.
Laine was not hurt on the play but would ultimately hurt his own team the most with a dreadful performance that led to him being called out by hundreds on social media and a third-period benching against the Capitals on Wednesday with a stat line of 0 goals, 0 assists, 0 shots and a total of.. you guessed it, 0 points!
Times are tough for the Canadiens as they are now down 0-2 in the best of seven series against the Capitals, but perhaps they should analyze their own mistakes or players like Laine who has turned into a ghost since the start of the playoffs, rather than things out of their control, such as officiating.
