BREAKING: 18-year NHL veteran signs brand new contract
The New York Rangers have signed goalie Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract extension.
Quick, who joined his hometown team last season, became eligible for an extension on January 1st. Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports that Quick's salary will increase from $825K to $1.275MM for the 2024-25 NHL season.
With over 15 seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, Quick is considered one of the top American goalies in NHL history. He won Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014 and has earned several other awards.
After a tough season, Quick was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets and then to the Vegas Golden Knights. He then joined the Rangers as a free agent.
Quick has performed well as a backup for the Rangers, with a 13-5-2 record in 21 games, and strong stats. This led to his contract extension.
Kevin Weekes of ESPN first reported the extension.
