BREAKING: 15-Year NHL Veteran Officially Announces Retirement

The Philadelphia Flyers, his former team, announced that Simmonds will sign a one-day contract and be honored by the team on April 13, coinciding with one of the Flyers' final home games of the season.

The Scarborough, Ontario native last played in the 2022-23 season, making 18 appearances with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Although Simmonds has yet to officially file retirement paperwork with the league, he confirmed to The Canadian Press that he will not be making a comeback.

Simmonds, now 35 years old, had stints with six different NHL clubs throughout his career. Initially drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 2007, he made significant contributions during his time with the Kings before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2011.
