The Jets Have Made a Large Announcment After Team Captain Makes Discreet Comments

Blake Wheeler took his feelings to the media last season when asked if he'd like to remain a Winnipeg Jet, Wheeler stated if the managment can put together a winning team, he's in, if not, then he'll have to re-think his thought process and make a decision off of that.

Wheeler, is much like Claude Giroux and his time in Philly, both players are aging and are looking at their last few years in the NHL. Both players have yet to win a cup, and of course that is every teams dream. But both players were captains on their respective teams, and didn't really show much captain-like traits.

The Winnipeg Jets have acted on it, and have made a large announcement

JETS ANNOUNCE LEADERSHIP GROUP RESTRUCTURING

The Winnipeg Jets announced today a restructuring of the team's leadership group ahead of the 2022-23 season.

"It is the determination of the coaching staff that we will enter the 2022-23 season without a specific captain, but rather a group of assistants still to be determined," said Jets head coach Rick Bowness. "It is our goal to expand the leadership base within our hockey team. We have high expectations for our core players and we want to provide them with the opportunity to step into those greater leadership roles as a group."

Jets head coach Rick Bowness and forward Blake Wheeler will be available to the media at 12:00 p.m. at Bell MTS Iceplex.
