The penalties were outrageous on Thursday's game, and so far this season.

The Blackhawks are off to a record-breaking start, but in a category no team wants, the Hawks have tallied up 101 minutes in penalites throughout their first seven games, equalling out to 14 + penalty minutes per game, against teams like the Oilers and Panthers, these are crucial things to do as the opposing teams powerplay is stacked heavily.
The Edmonton Oilers traveled to Chicago, Illinois to face the Blackhawks. But, it was an unusual game. There were 17 total penalties in one game. 17, not 17 penalty minutes, 17 total penalties taken..! Ridiculous!

The Oilers went 3/7, and the Hawks went 2/10, with a total of 5/17. There was 4 on 4, 4 on 3, and at one point both boxes had more than two players at once.

Some will say the NHL has gotten soft, and I can't say I disagree.
