In the absence of both Petr Mrázek and Alex Stalock, the Blackhawks signed Dylan Wells to fill a tandem with Arvid Söderblom. As of Nov. 7, Mrázek has been activated off of injured reserve and is expected to start in Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Kings. With Mrázek back and healthy, Stalock has officially been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Nov. 1 (concussion protocol).

Wells made his NHL debut in the third period against the Winnipeg Jets after Söderblom left the game due to injury. Söderblom's injury was never disclosed, but he's expected to be the backup this Thursday. With two healthy goaltenders on the roster, the Blackhawks placed Wells on NHL waivers this afternoon.
Söderblom will likely remain the backup until Stalock is activated from injured reserve, from there he'll be sent back down to Rockford. In 4 games played this season, he has a 1-2-1 record with a .924 save percentage. He also earned his first NHL win against the Kings on Nov. 3 in overtime.
