Punishment Handed Out After a ''Intent to Injure'' Hit Laid Last Night
Two other teams made their regular season debut on Canadian soil last night, the Edmonton Oilers at home took on the Vancouver Canucks in a Canadian rivalled matchup.
Many events took place on Wednesday night including Connor McDavid's 700th career point being tallied up, and him earning his 701st point off a hat trick goal late in the third period.
One other Oilers player is earning the spotlight in the media, but not for the right reasons. That player being Edmonton Oilers defensemen Darnell Nurse, who intended to injure a Vancouver Canucks player last night.
As you can see below, a Canucks player was in a very vulnerable position, as he was already being hit by another Oilers player and he was about to take a fall.

That did not stop Darnell Nurse, who seemed well aware of the players position, Nurse still decided to throw a hit making contact with the player who was in a vulnerable way.
Nurse was fined $5,000 for the hit, the NHL player safety announced today.
