Gameday Preview: Blackhawks Look to Extend Win Streak to 5 Against The Edmonton Oilers
Tonight, the Blackhawks play host to the Edmonton Oilers at the United Center for their first matchup of the young season. The Blackhawks are surely a pleasant surprise to start the season, as they are 4-2-0 to begin the campaign. The Blackhawks are currently 3rd in the Central Division.
The Blackhawks are in the midst of a 4-game win streak after dropping their first two games of the season to Colorado and Vegas on the road. Their penalty kill has been spectacular to begin the season and was quite impressive after killing off all six penalties last game against the Panthers.
The Edmonton Oilers defeated the St. Louis Blues last night to push their record to 4-3. The Oilers will be playing the second game of a back-to-back tonight, which could undoubtedly play into the Blackhawks favor if they play the same physical game they did against the Panthers.
The Blackhawks have the advantage in the penalty kill percentage, faceoff percentage, and goals against per game average. The two team's powerplays are almost identical, as the Oilers come in 2nd and the Blackhawks are currently ranked 3rd in the NHL. It should be a fun matchup tonight as the Blackhawks look to continue their hot streak.
