Roenick played with the Blackhawks from 1988-1996 and was selected by the Blackhawks with the eighth overall pick in the 1988 NHL Draft, rose to fame in Chicago, where he amassed back-to-back 50-goal seasons and three straight seasons of 100 points between 1992 and 1994. Over the course of his eight seasons with the Blackhawks, he accumulated 596 points (267 goals, 329 assists) in 524 regular-season games and 77 points (35 goals, 42 assists) in 82 playoff games.

Throughout his time in Chicago he was sadly unable to win a Stanley Cup, and when the Blackhawks did in 2010 it was quite the emotional moment for JR.
