The NHL is set to have a little break ahead of this weekend's festivities in Florida, home of the Florida Panthers for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game. Many have criticized the game as of late and how the players are chosen.

However, I think the announcement of next year's location definitely cause some controversy, as it obviously supports one of Bettman's money making locations.
According to a source from The Toronto Star contributing columnist Nick Kypreos, the Maple Leafs are closing in on hosting the annual event at Scotiabank Arena for the first time since 2000.

When the NHL's premier event landed in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre, Leafs captain Mats Sundin and defenceman Dmitry Yushkevich represented Team World while goalie Curtis Joseph played against them on Team North America.

NHL greats like Martin Brodeur, Ray Bourque, Paul Kariya, Mark Messier, Mike Modano, Joe Sakic, Steve Yzerman, Nicklas Lidstrom, Jaromír Jágr, Pavel Bure and current Leafs president Brendan Shanahan took the ice in Toronto.

Whether or not you agree with how the players are chosen or think the weekend is just a gimmick, most of the players and fans enjoy it, but personally I think the 90's All-Star Games were much more enjoyable.
