Artemi Panarin exits the ice in New York in the midst of trade rumors regarding his future with the Rangers

Former Chicago Blackhawks fan favourite Artemi Panarin is now with the New York Rangers, and is about to enter the 7th and final year of the contract he signed in 2019.

As Blackhawks fans painfully remember, Panarin, who won the Calder Trophy in 2016 as the NHL's best rookie, was traded just 2 years later to the Columbus Blue Jackets for ex-Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad in a deal that most fans consider among the worst in team history.

Panarin's future with the Rangers remains up in the air, but the news from Friday's 2nd day of New York training camp was not good.

There has been no update on Panarin's condition from the Rangers; he did not return for the rest of the day, and his status for tomorrow as training camp continues isn't known.

Panarin left the Blue Jackets to join the Rangers in 2019, signing a 7 year contract after openly saying he preferred to play in a big city under the bright lights.
