The Chicago Blackhawks now have the ball in their court in acquiring a young netminder from the Buffalo Sabres.

At this time, the Hawks currently have one extremely prominent goaltender, Spencer Knight, who was acquired by Chicago in a trade with the Florida Panthers in March, during the 2025 NHL trade deadline.
This trade saw the Blackhawks depart with former defenseman Seth Jones and a fourth-round pick in 2026 for both Knight and a first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
And while this trade has ultimately done wonders for Chicago, the organization is still lacking strength in net, as backup goaltender Arvid Soderblom, is evidently struggling to hold his own.
That being said, the Chicago Blackhawks are currently undergoing a complete rebuild in order to become big enough contenders to make postseason contention, and an area that could massively aid their pursuit to the playoffs is undoubtedly in net.
While this Original Six franchise could seek to add a more dependable backup netminder, a new talent has just surfaced as a steal.

Chicago Blackhawks to acquire young goaltender from the Buffalo Sabres: The Opportunity is here

The Buffalo Sabres' young talent, Devon Levi, has been the center of several trade rumors for some time now, and new intel suspects this goaltender is expected to request a trade.
«A report from the «After The Whistle» podcast said the goalie asked to be moved before heading back to the Rochester Americans, and that's kicked up a ton of chatter. The Buffalo Sabres have a full-blown goalie crowd right now, so the timing tracks.»

«Here's what we can say without squinting. The podcast hosts (former Sabres' player Craig Rivet and Andrew Peters) claimed Levi requested a trade after he was told he'd be AHL-bound. Follow-ups to the team and his agent didn't get a response, which isn't exactly a denial but also isn't a confirmation.»

While it is not yet on-record confirmed by the Sabres or Levi's camp, it seems as though this young talent is expected to be on his way out of Buffalo.
If all is true, do you think the Chicago Blackhawks should pursue Buffalo Sabres' Devon Levi?
