The Chicago Blackhawks announce huge signing of 6-foot-7 opposing teams captain
After a busy few days and multiple signings completed by the general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, Kyle Davidson, he's picked up the phone once again and announced a huge signing in 6-foot-7 defenseman Taige Harding.
This past Friday, the Blackhawks organization announced the signings of former first-round picks Sam Rinzel and Oliver Moore, who made their NHL debuts against the Utah Hockey Club on March 30.
Just days later, it appears it's time for another prospect of the organization to have their turn inking a their entry level contract, but this time it is a 2-year entry level contract announced, not three.
Blackhawks announce the signing of defenseman Taige Harding
Taige Harding, a 6-foot-7 defenseman weighing 236 pounds has inked a two-year entry level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, carrying a cap hit of $867,500 through the 2026-27 season.
Harding lead all defenseman at Providence College in assists with 14, alongside two goals in the 2024-25 season during a 37-game span.
Harding served as team captain during his time in the AJHL with the Fort McMurray Oil, tallying up 37 points in 37 games played.
Originally drafted by the Blackhawks in 2021 in the third round (91st overall).
Harding will report to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, NHL.COM wrote.
It may be a few games in the American Hockey League before debuting in the NHL, but at 6-foot-7 and 236 pounds, he is surely going to be a force to be reckoned with.
