Tension boiled over Thursday night as the Chicago Blackhawks, backed by the performance of Spencer Knight, handed the Los Angeles Kings another night of offensive struggles.

Chicago edged out Los Angeles 2-1, and the Kings looked more frustrated than competitive by the final buzzer.
Knight stopped 26 shots to preserve the win, continuing the story of his strong 2025-26 campaign since the trade from the Florida Panthers.
In the Kings' locker room, the mood seemed to reflect desperation rather than determination.
Veteran goalie Darcy Kuemper voiced what many probably felt:
«I think when pucks aren't going in, like I feel for the guys right now. I don't think it feels great for them. It's probably wearing on them a little bit. I think just confidence is the biggest thing.»

Forward Warren Foegele echoed the sentiment after assisting on Trevor Moore's third-period tally.
«When pucks aren't going in for a stretch there, it definitely wears on guys in the room you have to keep it simple, go to the net and just hope that one goes off your ass or your chest or something.»

That blunt honesty underscored the deep frustration within a club desperate to snap a scoring slump, but Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight truly shut the door on all but one of their high-quality chances.
Defenseman Drew Doughty added his two cents, stressing the need for more from the back end.
«There are ways that we can create more offense and we need to,» he said. «That starts with us defensemen making some more plays to help with the breakouts being more active in the o-zone. But I think once guys start scoring goals and getting the confidence back, then we'll run away with the offense.»

Frustration shows in the LA Kings' room after Thursday's loss to the Blackhawks

Moore, finally snapping a 16-game drought which was Spencer Knight's only goal let in, admitted how rough a dry spell can feel.
«I want to score. Everyone wants to score. It's not that fun when you're not scoring,» he said. «But at the end of the day, it's not like we're losing 4-1 every night We believe in our system, and we believe in our players. We think we're getting out of it.»
Still, one goal was hardly enough when Knight stood tall and Chicago cashed theirs. The Blackhawks get the win and some momentum, while the Kings are left with more questions than answers.
