This is a rough patch for former Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane, as he now sits at eight straight games without a goal for the Detroit Red Wings, sparking concern among fans.

This drought stands out sharply against the high standards he's set across his Hall-of-Fame-caliber career.
Kane's drought follows a nine-game absence due to an upper-body injury, and since returning, he's registered just one goal in 12 games.
Detroit coach Todd McLellan didn't sugarcoat the issue, noting that Kane has «had some real good looks,» including one-timers and what should be routine empty-net chances-chances that just aren't going in.
Kane's been fighting through what might be post-injury rust, but that doesn't fully explain the drop-off. He's taken 40 shots over his past 12 games, and still only one found the net.
It's especially painful given the expectations that come with a name like Kane's-the future Hall-of-Famer still has nearly 500 career goals and remains one of the league's most dangerous shooters, even at 37 years old.

Slump hits former Blackhawks hero hard

Part of me still believes the showtime attitude will return. But part of me wonders if Father Time is starting to catch up with Kaner.
For now Detroit must hope Kane finds his finishing touch before their playoff push gets clipped. Even great players go cold sometimes. Let's see if Kane breaks through soon and proves he's still got it.
