Patrick Kane opens up about his sour ending in Chicago with the Blackhawks
Patrick Kane is coming back to the United Center on Sunday, February 25th, and fans are pumped. GM Kyle Davidson started the rebuild by trading Kane and not re-signing Jonathan Toews after 16 years and 3 Stanley Cups.
Scott Powers from The Athletic talked to Kane about the changes, and Kane was surprised by how fast things happened after Rocky Wirtz passed away.
"It wasn't cool to see the camera in your face for a 6 a.m. flight, but, you know, it is what it is," Kane said.
He wished he had more time to say bye to the fans but understands the deal.
"If they said, 'We want you to be a Blackhawk for life. Can we work something out?' I probably would've said yes, because of what happened there and the success we had and the relationship with the organization," Kane said.
He gave up his no trade clause to be traded to the New York Rangers, but the Blackhawks never offered him a contract for his whole career. Now that Kane is back in Chicago, retirement might be on his mind. If he retires, fans hope he'll do it as a Blackhawk.
